2nd Issue of “Refuge and Rejection”

March 15, 2007

I’m the research assistant for an exciting project at ASU entitled “Refuge & Rejection.” It’s a humanities-based website for refugee studies, and our second “issue” has come out. The highlights this time are an article with two invited comments on the history of refugee resettlement in the United States since World War II, an excerpt from an award-winning book on Emma Lazarus, and a video interview with an Iraqi refugee ceramics artist.

Click here to go to the site (or click on the link in my “Links” list to the right). To get to the new content, click on “Main Features.” If you hunt around on the site, you can find a picture of yours truly (not advisable).

I’m also happy to announce that the next issue of “Refuge & Rejection,” which will come out in May 2007, will feature an article by me and a colleague of mine concerning the ways in which Religious Studies as a discipline can help Refugee Studies do a better job when it considers religious issues of forced human displacement.

  1. Thanks for the link–this is interesting reading.

Speaking of interesting reading, I’ve been enjoying your blog for several months now. I’m experiencing citrus envy, especially as winter came late here and promises to stay a little longer, with today’s snowfall.

    Hi Rebecca,
I’m glad you’re enjoying both Refuge & Rejection and Sheep Days. Winter…I actually miss it!
